Occurring during development or inherited, DiGeorge syndrome is also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome as it's caused by a mutation deleting a stretch of genetic code on chromosome 22. One consequence of the deletion (which is associated with a variety of physical and cognitive defects) is raised EMC10 protein in neurons. This study shows this protein's importance in cognition and how to regulate it
