Genetics editor of newsletter BioNews and freelance journalist, Beki has written for The Guardian and The Times. She studied biological sciences, obtaining a BSc and PhD from the University of Sheffield.
Former intensive care nurse Jake began his science career studying mammalian brain cells. He now works on fruit flies using the insects as a model to better understand the complexity of mammalian gut signalling and metabolism.
Stefan has always had a passion for communicating and writing about science. He worked for several years as a science communicator for the MRC. He also likes old computers and cooking.
Yalda recently hung up her lab coat to venture into the exciting world of science communication. She’s currently the Senior Grant Communications Officer at Great Ormond Street Hospital and runs her own science and art magazine.
At the University of Edinburgh, Rebekah is an MRC-funded PhD student, Focus Editor of EU:Sci magazine and a STEM ambassador. Keen to engage anyone in science, she enjoys volunteering and designing activities for the Science Festival.
