Circuit Reset

The brain region called the thalamic nucleus reuniens (NRe) sits at the centre of a communicating circuit involving the hippocampus leading to memory formation and decision-making, a circuit disrupted in disorders such as dementia and schizophrenia. Long thought to mediate memory acquisition, here however, researchers found no evidence that the NRe targets the memory-involved pyramidal cells of the hippocampal region
