Brain Games
Neurotechnology fuses neuroscience with technology. Featured through a live lab installation at the Strictly Science exhibition, Dr Aldo Faisal explains how ideas from maths, physics, engineering and programming can help us understand the brain. As an indicator of brain activity, they study movement. His team is working not only to understand how our brains help us move, but to provide solutions for people with brain disorders. Using custom made eye-tracking technology, they have created a way for people to use a computer with only their eyes. With tools from the film and video industry they analyse simple movements in great detail. In the future the way people move could provide a diagnostic test for conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
